How It All Began

In the late 1980s, the use of paper sacks for bulk packaging was virtually unknown in India. Padma Shri Dr. Hemendra Prasad Barooah, a visionary and doyen of the Indian tea industry, anticipated a shift from conventional to sustainable packaging solutions. In response, he set up a paper sack manufacturing unit in Balasore, Odisha, in 1986, in collaboration with Korsnas Paper Sacks Ltd, UK. In 2012, the company further diversified into flexible laminate manufacturing.

B & A Packaging India Limited, under its brand name Bagage, was the first company in India to produce multiwall paper sacks and has now become a leader in both paper sacks and flexible laminates.
